Transformation Center of Ústí Region in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic, 2023

1st prize - Two Stages International Competition, 2022-2023

The Transformation Centre (TCÚK) is realized on the premises of the former secondary school in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. The aim is to realize offices and facilities and the necessary infrastructure for the transformation of the region and stimulate the emergence of a new hub of development.
Through a set of interventions of demolition, renovation and new construction, the proposal redefines the current conditions, setting a new masterplan.

Some of the existing builings are demolished and replaced by landscaped areas crossed by a walkable canopy. This allows the Transformation center to be connected at the entrance level and at the courtyard level and to be crossed in all directions, opening it to the city and allowing visual and physical interactions between its parts.

The proposed strategy respects the original architectural expression. The main additional volumes are realized with timber glulam structures on top of the existing concrete ones, with the intention of minimizing the soil occupation and optimizing the amount of surface dedicated to green space and to social interaction.

The program includes: offices, co-working spaces, cafeteria, canteen, accomodation, multifunctional hall
